It’s nice when we enter a competition or prize draw and actually win. The last time I did that I was about ten years old. My dad bought the whole family raffle tickets at his place of work’s Christmas party. One of my tickets won. My prize? Two dozen bottles of brown ale. I didn’t get to enjoy one bit of my prize, needless to say.
I noticed in a news item today from a cancer group in Cyprus that they had a prize draw, with all sorts of nice and useful prizes for those suffering from cancer and their carers.
I was a little surprised at one of the prizes. It would, at some point, no doubt prove useful. But, I can’t help feeling the winner may have been in for a shock. The prize was a 200 hundred Euro voucher, for the winner to be able to make a legal will.
Maybe a little thoughtless having that as a prize in a draw for cancer sufferers?
