My yearly heart check-up went well. Looks like I can manage a few more years of writing before I have to check into that big editor’s office in the sky.
Tempus Fugit – Time Flies
It’s something you have to live with when you get into your 70s. Heath issues become something major. We all go through it. Some of us have good health for many years. These days many more seem to get to the 100 year mark and still manage a good lifestyle.
My issues regarding health are many and varied. Diabetes, sight, cancer, heart and a few other niggles. But I’m getting through them and moving forward to the inevitable… but not for a few more years.
Death is not something that worries me. I’ve looked it in the face with my cancer. Eighty percent invasive lymphoma and I was not at all well. Couldn’t walk anywhere, even a few feet at home without getting breathless and feeling really poorly. But, nine months of chemotherapy and another two plus years of immunotherapy and the cancer is gone. Now I’m in recovery, with a few additional health issues, side effects from the treatment. You don’t get to poison your entire body without a few things going wrong.
But, and this is a big thing for me. I did it. I beat cancer and my other issues may not be trivial, but they are manageable. And here’s where my mind overcame my poorly body. Attitude. That’s what it took, attitude and a healthy diet, plenty of exercise and not to fear the grim reaper when he calls.
I don’t fear death, it’s as natural as birth. I don’t believe there is an afterlife, so I have no solace in believing there is something after death. What gives me strength to carry on is my wife, my dog, my family and my writing.
I take great comfort knowing that when I’m gone, there will be something of me left behind, my books.
So, back to writing and I have three new books coming out this year.
The Ragged Edge of Time in April 2025
Midnight’s Secret in June 2025
Midnight’s Crisis in December 2025
Happy reading to those who like my books and I look forward to penning quite a few more before I switch my computer off that final time.
