Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush

Mulberry bush

I’ve never eaten fruit from a mulberry bush. Some say the fruit tastes like goji berries or figs. Others have likened them to grapes and yet more people say it’s a cross between blueberries and grapefruit. I eagerly await the arrival of a few flowers on my bush, which is more like a sapling, to herald the development of the fruit. But I won’t hold my breath, because it looks like I may have missed the boat this year.

Never mind, the same applies to all the other fruits I’ve planted, like the veriko grape vine, passion fruit, fig tree and raspberry. The only thing growing in abundance, with lots of flowers, is the pomegranate.

It’s loaded with flowers, so at least I should get a few fruits from it.

The only problem with pomegranate is it’s messy to eat. So, if I get enough fruit I may squeeze them for the juice, which is called Grenadine and used extensively in cocktails. Who knows, I may even open my own cocktail bar for passing tourists.

Once I’ve everything planted out, I have a few herbs to get into my herb garden, I’m going to try and develop a spice garden. Allspice, cinnamon, pepper and a few others should look good.

Then I intend to take a rest. Creating a garden from scratch is had enough but doing it while recovering from cancer is even harder. Time for a nap, I think.
