No, dear reader, it’s not about dance choreography, or human relationships, nor is it about quantum physics, or the weather, each of which are complex. Nope, this piece isn’t about any of them. But it is about vitamin B, or rather vitamin B complex.
Vitamin B complex is something recommended by my Oncologist. My body has defeated the lymphoma cancer, but I still have ongoing issues. One of which is the violent spasms of pain I’m getting in my legs. If it weren’t for heavy pain killers I would be twitching, twisting and jumping around like Michael Flatley on steroids. Yes, it can be extremely painful and no, I should not be taking heavy pain killers to stop it. Another issue is my chemo brain fog. Though my chemo was finished three months ago, I still have the occasional brain burp. This comes in the form of forgetfulness, inability to work certain things out and the occasional foggy mind that really has no idea what’s going on around it. Apparently, what I need is vitamin B complex.
Why is it complex, well, the group of vitamins are B1 (thiamine), B2 (riboflavin), B3 (niacin), B5 (pantothenic acid), B6 (pyridoxal phosphate), B7 (biotin), B9 (folic acid or folate), and B12 (cobalamin). These are the B complex vitamins. They help form red blood cells and play a vital role in releasing energy from carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. B vitamins also reduce the risk of heart disease., lowering bad cholesterol (LDL) and increasing good cholesterol (HDL). Insufficient vitamin B can cause anaemia, or a lack of healthy red blood cells.
Told you it was complex.
So, because of the pain in the legs and my ongoing chemo brain fog, I’m on B complex and hoping for a reduction in pain and increase in brain.
Now that can’t be too much to ask and all for only €12.46 which is a bargain… if it works.
